John Haly is a freelancer for whom the changing political landscape from that in which he grew up has induced him to write of his concerns for social justice and political issues. Educated initially with a Bachelor of Business, he followed these later with diplomas in multimedia and graphic design, and is currently halfway through a Masters of the “Economics of Sustainability” at Torrens University in Adelaide.
When not studying or writing, he manages freelance businesses, Halyucinations Studios and Auswakeup Media in Sydney, doing work for clients in photograph, video production, design, I.T. support and web development and management. He has been the secretary of the film collaborative, NAFA, since 2007 and a founding member of the Australia Arts Party amongst other less successful political party initiatives.
Formerly an I.T. contractor and project manager for such enterprises as ABC, the Reserve Bank, Westpac and other mining, transport, I.T. outsourcing and computer companies, and public service government and university institutions.
A fifth-generation Australian-born son of an English teacher and a Businessman – whose contributions to the finance sector were recognised with an Order of Australia – he has lived and worked overseas, although mainly around Australia and lately in Sydney, NSW.
