Sue Nunn is a retired I.T. manager who has worked extensively in global, multi-national environments. She spent more than 20 years in the I.T. industry specialising in large scale project implementation, delivery and operational management.
Born on the Darling Downs and living on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, Sue comes from a large, working-class family. She is a sister to five brothers, two of whom have disabilities.
Having siblings with special needs had a profound impact on the way Sue looks at the world and resulted in her developing a strong sense of social responsibility and justice. She has an intense dislike of bullying which drives her determination to act in the defense of those who cannot protect themselves.
Her eldest disabled brother, Terry, was 29 when the car he has travelling in was hit by a drunk driver. Terry was left with acquired brain injuries. Terry passed away in December 2018 after a long illness with multiple myeloma. Terry spent almost 30 years as a client of the Public Trustee with his compensation funds managed by that agency
In the last several years Sue has been a strong advocate for reform in the Public Trustee. She was a witness at the Disability Royal Commission providing evidence at the public hearing into guardianship and administration abuse. Sue believes transparency, accountability and integrity is essential to the effective function of government.
In her spare time, Sue volunteers in animal rescue and spends as much time as she can on or in the water of the beautiful beaches nearby. Travel is a passion and she’s currently planning her next trip to Southeast Asia. Spending time with family is paramount and she’s grateful for the close relationship and support of her brothers.
