The void in Australian politics

By | | comments |

There is a void in the Australian politics ready to be filled by a new party committed to improving the lives of everyday Australians, says Shaun Newman.

Despite the relentless negativity from the LNP – both state and federal – which has convinced much of the public that the Labor governments both in Queensland and Australia are not delivering for the population, we have yet to see anything from the LNP as to what they propose to do.

Federally,we know that WorkChoices will reappear but we have yet to see credible policy in any area of government. This means Health, Education, Environment and all other portfolios are vacant and devoid of any direction.

I, as much as any other citizen, am prepared to make a change if that change is for the betterment of fellow citizens, however I will not subject my fellow Queenslanders or Australians to a lucky dip. There must be some incentive to change, a contestable reason, or there is no point.

We have seen the end of Labor governments in NSW and in Victoria. NSW had to rid itself of a bad government, of that there is no doubt, however in Victoria it seems that a change was made for the sake of change with both states unhappy with the LNP alternative.

Perhaps there is now a void in the Australian community that could be filled with a party committed to the everyday Australian family and the retention or betterment of living standards for our population.
