Martin McMahon is the author of the best-selling history book ‘I CRY FOR MY PEOPLE’. The book went to Number 2 on Dymock’s Top Ten Paperbacks in Brisbane and remained on the lists until sold out.
McMahon’s account put the conflict in Northern Ireland into its historical context. Reviewers have described it as not only “a well-written, thoroughly researched historical record and invaluable reference resource” but also as “a very moving account......whose prose flows as freely and warmly intimate as the very best of Irish narrative art”.
Born in County Clare, Ireland, Martin McMahon has lived in Australia since 1969. He wrote the history in response to the many Australians who asked him to explain the background to the Northern Ireland conflict.
The book has become something of a collector’s item and can be seen for sale on Amazon priced from $500 to $2500.
