Chris Pye works as a psychotherapist, in the area of relationships and attachment trauma.
Chris studied Theatre at New York’s American Musical and Dramatic Academy in the 1980s and in London, worked as an actor and singer before applying his skills to the fields of Community Cultural Development and Social and Emotional Learning. He was awarded a Diploma of Higher Education in Community and Youth Work from the University of London and a BA (Hons) in Community and Informal Education from the University of Kent.
Moving to Queensland in 1998, Chris worked for nine years as an applied theatre practitioner, before receiving a master’s in counselling and beginning to work as a relationship counsellor.
Chris balances his professional energies between his therapeutic work with individuals and couples, and his coaching and facilitation work with Human Services teams, where his focus is helping to foster inclusive and trauma-sensitive spaces for both clients and team members.
Chris’ greatest adventure has been the raising of his two boys, with his husband of 17 years. When he’s not striving to change the world, one conversation at a time, Chris indulges his passions for trail running and creative writing.
