Victoria Martin-Iverson is a lifelong human rights activist.
She has been a leading figure in the Refugee Rights Action Network in Perth WA for over 13 years.
As a refugee advocate she has travelled to most of the on shore detention centers, and visits asylum seekers inside detention several times every week. She opposes mandatory detention, all forms of detention without charge or trial, and offshore processing.
As someone that witnesses first hand the disintegration of people’s mental health while in detention, she believes the terrible harm done to people can never be justified.
Victoria trained as a political scientist at University, an education that prepared her for a rich life of political activism, but unfortunately not much else. She is, however, gainfully employed in a completely unrelated field.
