Introduction of carbon tax and the end of Abbott

By | | comments |

The introduction of carbon tax legislation into Federal Parliament yesterday will go down as the day Tony Abbott lost the Opposition leadership, says Shaun Newman.

What can I say; it has been worth the wait to see the introduction of a climate change fighting mechanism into the Australian economy. An historic day in Australia today with the introduction into the Australian parliament of the first climate change fighting legislation.

Tony Abbott was stuttering like a second hand Victa because he knew that his scare campaign and his leadership of the coalition was about to come to an end. Australians will see that the sky won’t fall in, that we won’t be ruined and his reputation will be soiled so deeply that he will not recover his standing, as the Australian economy brightens and ordinary Australians realize that his scare campaign amounted to nothing.

Today the 13th of November 2011 will go down as the day Mr. Abbott began to lose the leadership of the coalition. Today will also go down as the day Australia began to take its responsibility to its children and grandchildren to provide them with a cleaner future environment. The National Press Club heard today from international speakers in favour of taking action to produce renewable energy, speakers from China and The United States of America. Let us all rejoice in the knowledge that at last we have collectively taken action to secure a future for our children.
