IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT THE MONEY...

ALTHOUGH...

G'day to 2013 — and to Independent Australia's friends and fellow travellers, who donated and participated in our fabulous fundraising competition that ended upon the stroke of midnight last year!

A big ONYA and THANK YOU is in order from us to you!

The winner will be announced this arvo and will be the lucky recipient of a brand spanking new MacBook Air Laptop donated by His Royal Invisible Oneness, and professional levitator, George Bludger who is overseas at the moment bidding for ownership rights to the financially orphaned luxury yacht/aircraft carrier of the late Steve Jobs.

Donor of prize George Bludger: international athlete, renowned artist, decorated war hero, revered public intellectual, potential Nobel Peace Prize winner.
Prize donor George Bludger: shark wrestler, posturepedic bed tester, balaclava model, professional organ donor.

And it's not just about the money you donated to help IA grow. Many of you sent in messages of congratulations and encouragement as well as your donation receipts.

And those of you who could not afford to donate were gracious enough to write in and give us your support and troth loyalty and continuing readership. How good izzat!

Thanks to those of you who shared competition details on social media, because you also help to  increase community awareness about IA and why it is compelling reading for curious minds.

2012 was a bumper year for Independent Australia. In this thank you note, I do not wish to single out anyone of our Allstars in particular, because on this happy Winner's Day, we are the sum of our parts.

Who I do want to single out is You the Reader.  So often you are ignored by corporate and new media; in the same way as political parties in Australia now exist for the sole preserve of party political power. We, the People, hardly get a mention. Who, you?

IA2012

We are readers, as well as writers, on Independent Australia.  So we know what is NOT being writ and what is being kept OUT of the media.

We write for you.

And that is both an honour and an onerous responsibility.  These are not esoterics. These are embedded in the very DNA strands of journalism.

And so is having a larf. Some of us live hard. Some of us love hard. Some of us write hard.

But you've got to 'ave a larf. Wiv us and at us. With one another. We're not apart from you. We are of you — and vice versa. A robust convocation.

So, a big thank you to our loyal, energetic and sometimes startling Dear Contributors — key personalities in their own write. We love this conversation – and argument – with you.

thank-you-words

And there is a great affection amongst the Independent Australia family of readers and supporters.

Thank you for making us the success we have grown to be in the short time of our existence and please support us and spread the word about us in 2013.

Subscribe to our free newsletter and encourage others to do the same. And get in there and voice an opinion on our site, leave a comment, or submit an article to managing editor David Donovan at editor@independentaustralia.net.

It's not just about the money....

But IA needs money to survive. So, even though this competition is over, please feel free to donate to us any time. A/c name: Independent Australia; BSB: 124-001; A/c no: 21890458.

Happy New Year!
