Andra Jackson

  • Andra Jackson is a freelance journalist who has had articles published in the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Weekly Review and The Australian.

    She was previously a staff reporter for The Age newspaper for eleven years.

    She won the 2005 HREOC (Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission) Award for the best print news story and the 2006 Melbourne Press Council's Quill for the best print news story for breaking the story of wrongly detained Australian resident Cornelia Rau.

    In 2005, she visited Gaza on an Australian Arabic Council award for stories on Aladdin Sisalem, the then last refugee left on Manus Island.

    She was also a foreign stringer based in Belfast for four and a half years.
