Subscribe to IA — Australia's samizdat

By | | comments |

IA columnist Bob Ellis talks about the importance of Independent Australia to Australian media.

IA serves Australia as the samizdat served Czechoslovakia in the dark years after the Prague Spring, reminding us of the good country we had once, and the freedoms we enjoyed too briefly, in another century, before the War On Terror splintered and smashed up those democratic unanimities which a hundred fair and honourable countries had brandished, proudly, after World War II.

IA is a remembrance of those freedoms we had once, and it is good to recall, with nostalgia, what they were.
