Vanessa Powell is an independent journalist currently based in Iraqi Kurdistan.
She first travelled to the region in 2014 as part of a Christian Peacemaker Team then returned the following year to teach English. She has been living and working there ever since.
Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Justice and Public Advocacy from Edition Cowan University and her Masters was in Media Practice.
She is originally from Perth in Western Australia.
