Richard Foster


  • Richard Foster is a City of Melbourne Councillor, as well as a dad living in inner Melbourne.

    RichardFosterHe has a legal background and has worked for some of Australia’s largest financial institutions, an Ombudsman and a large welfare organisation.

    In 2008 he was appointed as the CEO of the Financial and Consumer Rights Council and he is now an Industry Fellow of the Faculty of Business and Economics at Monash University, where he oversees clinical placement programs in community legal centres.

    A regular commentator on 774 ABC Melbourne and ABC Victoria for a number of years, Richard also serves on a number of not-for-profit boards and committees.

    At the City of Melbourne, Richard holds the diverse portfolio of People City and is the Deputy Chair of the Transport portfolio. Portfolio responsibilities of People City include social policy, Indigenous affairs, community sport, emergency management, safety and health, and children’s, family, and aged services.
