Paul Bastian was appointed national secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union (AMWU) in March 2012, having previously held the position of national president since December 2009.
From 1997 until December 2009, Paul was state secretary of the AMWU NSW Branch.
Paul is a shipwright by trade and holds a law degree from the University of Technology, Sydney.
As a trade union official for over 30 years, Paul’s career has been dedicated to advocating for secure and long term employment for our members in manufacturing through research and innovation, skills development, targeted industry policy and increasing the number, and quality, of apprenticeships.
