Dr Michael J Davis grew up in Sydney in a working-class family and majored in Zoology and Genetics at Sydney University before entering teaching. He has a Masters of Asian Studies and a PhD from Griffith University, with particular interest in Australian engagement with China and causes of Australian ambivalence.
Michael is a member of the NSW Teachers Federation (former executive member and organiser).
He is a North Coast Cattle breeder with a strong interest in the cattle industry.
Michael is married to Christine, the father of three adult children and the grandfather of five young Australians.
