Bob Smith is a management consultant and lecturer in public policy and management in Melbourne.
He held public service positions in the 1980s and 1990s in Queensland and Victoria, including Deputy Director General, Department of Primary Industries, Queensland; Deputy Director General, Office of the Cabinet, Queensland; and Member, Public Service Board of Victoria. He is a National Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia.
He has taught graduate units in public policy, policy analysis and e-government.
Current research includes agendas for reform of federal arrangements in India and Australia.
He is a regular visitor to South and South East Asia.
