Brian Morris

  • Brian Morris is a former journalist well-versed in secular politics. His interest in social justice and secularism was driven by first-hand experiences of the extremes in wealth and poverty in many countries, and the influence of religion in politics.

He wrote Sacred to Secular in 2015 to explain why Australia is not secular, where the problems lie and how they can be addressed. The book has cover endorsements from the Richard Dawkins Foundation, social researcher Hugh Mackay and leaders in the field of secularism.

Brian established the National Secular Lobby (NSL) and Plain Reason — both to identify and promote the numerous social and political issues still heavily influenced by religious conservativism. The objective is to make the public – and media – more aware that religion has a political influence frequently at odds with the principles of democracy.
