Born in The Netherlands, Bert Hoebee emigrated to Australia with his parents in 1958.
Bert served in the Army from 1965 to 1999 (including Reserve service). He has a Bachelor of Professional Studies (UNE), Grad Dip Strategic Studies (Joint Services Staff College), and is a graduate of Royal Military College of Science, UK, the Army Command and Staff College and the Defence Systems Management Course.
Bert is a Canberra-based occasional letter and op-ed writer for the print media. He also contributes to activities in support of serving defence people and veterans.
