Professor Tony Adams is a retired public health researcher, public servant and academic. He worked as NSW Chief Health Officer through the early days of the HIV AIDS pandemic, then as Chief Medical Officer to the Australian Government from 1987-1997. He was chair of the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Commission for Poliomyelitis Eradication until his retirement in 2016.
