Nick Deane is a Sydney-based peace activist, working with the Independent and Peaceful Australia Network's NSW chapter.
He is a retired public servant, having spent the last 17 years of his working career with the Australian Taxation Office.
Nick first asserted his interest in peace-related activity in 1966, when a student of Sociology at Southampton University (UK), by resigning from being a 'Cadet Pilot' in the RAF reserve for conscientious reasons. His enthusiasm for working for peace was re-kindled at the time of the invasion of Iraq.
He believes it is time for Australia to take a close look at its defence priorities.
