Dailan Pugh became involved in the campaign to protect north-east NSW’s rainforests in the late 1970s, and has since devoted most of his life to protecting forests. He co-founded the North East Forest Alliance in 1989, which by 2003 had protected most old growth and over a million hectares of forests. He was awarded an Order of Australia in 2003 for his work protecting forests. He considers that in the midst of our climate and extinction crises it is urgent to stop logging of all public native forests.
