EXCLUSIVE: Tony Abbott's Monkey Pod sleeper cell against Turnbull

By | | comments |

Tony Abbott has allegedly set up a sleeper cell of Liberal insurgents aiming to undermine new PM Malcolm Turnbull. Contributing editor-at-large Tess Lawrence reports.

TONY ABBOTT AND PETA CREDLIN have allegedly set up a sleeper cell within the Coalition determined to remove Malcolm Turnbull and reinstate Abbott as Prime Minister.

The cell is also behind Ian Macfarlane's foiled attempt via the National Party's back door to leverage his way back into the ministry.

Sources within the Coalition confirm that a short time after being usurped, former Prime Minister Abbott and his loyal former chief of staff Peta Credlin formed a sleeper cell of disaffected Liberal insurgents, whose undermining strategy relies on chucking the equivalent of political incendiary explosive devices into the Turnbull trenches.

IAN ELGIN MACFARLANE LOSES HIS MARBLES

One of those IEDs was Ian Elgin Macfarlane, who may well have lost his marbles as well as his political career.

Yesterday morning, Queensland Liberal National Party MP Ewen Jones, described Macfarlane's defection fiasco as his "brain explosion".

When PM, Abbott had appointed the dour "Chainsaw" Macfarlane minister for industry and science, but Turnbull was to relieve him not only of this portfolio but from Cabinet altogether in favour of Christopher Pyne, a notorious media performer and political headkicker with a sense of humour, who has scored more goals for his party in Parliament than Beckham ever did for Manchester United.

But the smarting ex-minister never got over being dumped by Turnbull, just as Abbott never got over being dumped for Turnbull.

ABBOTTEERS STROKE AND STOKE MACCA'S POLITICAL VANITY AND EGO

Less than a week after being turfed, Macfarlane, encouraged by Abbotteers, went door knocking to the Nationals.

The silly sod was convinced they would hail him as a saviour, future leader and promote him over incumbent National MPs for an allocated portfolio in Turnbull's ministry.

Had the Macfarlane defection fiasco not backfired, it would have afforded Abbott a "gotcha" moment over Turnbull.

Macfarlane had become a perfect stooge for Abbott and his loyalists in their plot to doggedly undermine Turnbull's leadership at every opportunity and misstep behind the scenes — no matter to Abbott that his sleeper cell was/is doing the work of a flaccid lazy Opposition with an even lazier leader in Bill Shorten.

Macca, meanwhile, proved to be an obliging and maleable supplicant.

GODOT'S GIFT TO POLITICS

Given that he remains convinced he is Godot's gift to politics, it took little to convince him that not only did his electorate of Groom need him, but Australia needed him even more.

And both needed him to be a cabinet minister and not an ordinary MP.

In other words, Macfarlane was worthier of being a surgeon rather than a mere GP. After all, a minister enjoys a much higher salary, superannuation payout and more perks than a mere member of parliament but, of course, such venality would never be a consideration for any politician.

Macfarlane's vulnerable political vanity was nourished and carefully groomed, his publicly pronounced self importance and ego, stroked and stoked.

MACFARLANE POLITICAL EQUIVALENT OF SUICIDE BOMBER

He was flattered, apparently, beyond redemption and fell for it. Hook, lie and sinker — to the cruel extent that even the groomers were laughing and smirking behind his back at how easy it was to persuade him to be the political equivalent of a suicide bomber.

Independent Australia has been told that, fuelled by a pathological ambition and obvious jealous malevolence, the needy Abbott is greedy and pining for his lost power and importance.

He still remains unable to come to terms with being dumped as leader by his Party in favour of fellow Rhodes Scholar Malcolm Turnbull.

ABBOTT'S GRIEF AT PM LOSS AFFECTING HIS MENTALITY?

Further, we have been told that there are serious concerns that Abbott's intense grieving for his lost Prime Ministership and status internationally is now affecting his mental health and judgement, and that this is borne out by his reckless and inflammatory statements.

IA was told:

“He is behaving as if he is still the prime minister and making statements on behalf of Australia. There's something going on here that is more than political point scoring or carping from the sidelines.”

One source confided advice had been sought and confirmed by a forensic psychologist that it was possible that a leader might suffer from denial and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after losing his/her leadership.

More to come on the Abbott sleeper cell against Turnbull, including:

  • MINISTER DUTTON AND THE MONKEY POD KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE
  • MARGARET THATCHER LECTURE — ABBOTT HATESPEAK SLAGS OFF REFUGEES
  • TOXIC TIRADE AGAINST MUSLIMS JEOPARDISES NATIONAL SECURITY
  • MAL BROUGH ASHBYGATE SCANDAL

Given we have discussed suicide and mental health issues, we customarily include the phone number for Lifeline Australia: 13 11 14. (In no way is this to be interpreted as a sly joke against Mr Abbott or anyone else. We do not joke about such things.)
