Robert Wood

  • Dr Robert Wood is chair of PEN International (Perth).

    He is interested in freedom of expression, refugee rights and parens patriae. Robert co-founded Penn Against War, a non-violent student group at the University of Pennsylvania; worked for Books through Bars, which distributed literature to prisoners in the United States and interned for artisans rights organisation Craft Revival Trust in New Delhi.

    Robert has cooked with Food Not Bombs in Philadelphia and Tamil Feasts in Melbourne, serving vegan food to marginalised communities; was a committee member of the Witchcliffe Progress Association to protect the environment of Margaret River and has written media releases for AWARE feminist organisation in Singapore.

    Robert regularly writes to diplomats, publishes activist articles and donates to a number of organisations including Indigenous, environmental and independent media causes.
