  • Caitlin Mary Neate is currently studying a Bachelor of Communications majoring in Journalism and Public Relations. Straight out of high school, Caitlin completed one year of a Bachelor of Psychological Science degree before life and health got in the way, forcing her to drop out. Nevertheless, her obsession with “thinking” and perception never went away.

As a young person (read: millennial), Caitlin has always felt frustrated with how the Australian news media and those who consume said media, talk about young people and how they think we think. Issues that affect youth are rarely taken seriously in mainstream media and the disenfranchisement towards politics this causes in youth is something she feels strongly about changing. There is a painfully obvious absence of a youthful perspective and voice. It was this frustration that prompted Caitlin to study Communications, in the hopes of being able to provide that perspective on issues like politics, current affairs, culture and media.

Caitlin is currently the co-manager of the Sunshine Coast branch of CoderDojo (a world-wide not for profit organisation that teaches kids aged 7-17 how to code), regular presenter for the PolitiScope podcast on a show called #AuspolPunters, and does a short weekly television and film review segment on ABC Radio Sunshine Coast.

Caitlin likes to think she is funny but this is up for debate. Hit her up on Twitter with your millennial questions; for example, she's more than happy to explain what "dabbing on the haters" means and other fun (read: stupid) slang young people use.
