John Stokes MB BS BSc (MED) is a graduate of the University of NSW. He has worked as an anaesthetist, intensivist and lecturer in Sydney and New Zealand and as a senior lecturer in anaesthesia and intensive care at Otago Universtity in New Zealand.
Dr Stokes established Intensive Care Services for Mater Hospital in Townsville where he was director of medical services until 2014. He is Associate Professor at James Cook University School of Medicine since 1999, member of the College of Intensive Care Medicine and College of Anaesthetists and Chair of the Curriculum Committee for James Cook University.
