Roy McKeen is a passionate believer that although Australia has the potential to be a great country it will not reach that status until it has its own head of state and a flag which says unequivocally 'This is Australia'.
Born a Presbyterian in Northern Ireland but now a confirmed atheist he served in the Royal Ulster Constabulary, Northern Ireland’s police force now known as the Police Service of Northern Ireland. During his service he saw at first hand the hatred, misery and death that sectarian strife can bring.
He has been a subscriber to The Australian’s letters page for many years, loves Q&A on television and all types of music, particularly jazz.
He has been around the world five times, visited five continents, admits to being a pedant when it comes to misplaced apostrophes and loves rugby union, soccer, AFL and ballroom dancing.
“There’s more”, he says “but that’s enough.”
