Peter McGee grew up in Sydney. He has worked in financial services for 35 years, initially in line roles and, over the last 20 years, in internal audit and risk management roles reporting to company boards.
Peter has spent 10 years as a director of a credit union and is currently a director of a not for profit sculpture school.
Involvement in company governance and risk management has become somewhat of a passion for Peter. Over the last twenty years, the Australian community has effectively democratised its sharemarket with a high percentage of the public directly, or indirectly, owning shares. The significant ownership of shares by the public makes company governance a critical component of listed companies' performance.
Peter is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, an Associate of Chartered Secretaries Australia and a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.
Looking forward to living to a ripe old age, Peter will be eternally disturbed if Australia fails to become a republic before he dies.
